iPad 3 to Feature a Slimline Battery and Ultra Slim Design

Reports are suggesting that the Apple are going to make the iPad 3 even slimmer than the current iPad 2 design which is only 8.8mm thick. This news comes from supply chain sources in Taiwan, claiming that Cupertino has ordered a large batch of lightweight and thinner batteries for the next generation iPad 3 tablet.

It has been reported that these new batteries are costing approximately 30% more, which you would have thought will push the price of the next generation iPad 3 up, however with competition tablets steadily reducing in price it seems it would be highly unlikely for the price of the iPad 3 to be greater than the current iPad 2 pricing structure.

The new battery design is not just for aesthetic reasons, it is also rumoured to keep going for longer than the existing iPad 2 battery which currently lasts approximately 10 hours when browsing the web, so all in all we are going to be looking at a slimmer iPad 3 tablet with improved battery life, sounds good to us!

Leaked Photo Shows iPad 3 Component

Today we are bringing you some brand new iPad 3 news, this time regarding a leaked photo that appears to be showing a component that is to be used in the iPad

Apple.pro has leaked what appears to be an iPad 3 part, pictured below. The description talks of a part with the label “821-1259-06″ which appears to be a dock connector with the ribbon cable attached to it. The ribbon makes a 90-degree turn whereas it was completely straight on iPad 1 and 2. Obviously this indicates some design changes in internal design of the next iPad. Apple.pro observes the iPad 2′s dock connector is labeled “821-1180-A”.

It’s interesting that “821-1259-06″ is a white plug, unlike the black connector found on both black and white iPad 2 (the original iPad’s dock connector was white, however) . This has led the site to speculate that the next iPad might arrive in black and white flavors and with matching dock connectors. The component is said to be sourced from Apple’s “internal inventory” and leaked by an unnamed source.

This is the latest iPad 3 release date update, rumor had it that we might see an iPad 3 in late 2011 however the latest ipad 3 news is that it won’t be released until early 2012.

According to DigiTimes, Apple has already started certifying the production of components for the new iPad 3, such as Radiant Opto-Electronics for LED back-lit displays.

However some Apple fans are still hoping to see a late 2011 release it is highly unlikely now.

iOS 5 files back up rumours for iPad 3 retina display

New evidence has emerged that support the rumour that the iPad 3 will in fact have a retina display. The resolution of the iPad and iPad 2 is 1024 x 768 but new graphics from the iOS 5 and Twitter framework are leading us to believe that the new generation iPad 3 will support a resolution of 1536 x 2048.

People saying the iPad 2 wouldn’t have a retina display were combatting statements saying the iPad 2 would in fact have a retina display using the iPad 3. Our tipster said images were two times the resolution coming in at 1,536 x 2,048. Our tipster said:

As I was going through the iOS SDK I came across some images in the new Twitter .framework. The resolution appears to be 1,536 x 2,048.

Our tipster, @Frankrockz, went on to say:

Apparently the Twitter.framework is the only framework I found to have these enormous images.

iOS 5 Code Reveals New iPad 3 Models

You may have already read about this but the latest news is that after the Apple iOS 5 was revealed to developers last night, a section of code indicated that the next iPad will indeed be the iPad 3 and it is definitely going to be released in the next 9 months.

iOS 5 Code Reveals New iPad 3 ModelsThe particular section of code was found in USB configuration files and it highlighted identifiers labelled “iPad3,1″ and “iPad3,2″, referring to iPad 3 wifi and GSM models.

This doesn’t really tell us anything of high interest, other than confirming that we will indeed be seeing an iPad 3 some time in the near future.
